NONPROFIT NEIGHBORHOOD

AT THE HEART OF DALLAS

The Wilson Historic District is a 22-acre campus near Deep Ellum in Dallas. It spans from Good-Latimer Expressway to the west and Hall Street to the east, and from Live Oak Street to the north and Gaston Avenue to the South.

The first-of-its-kind in the nation, the nonprofit neighborhood was created in 1981 to restore and preserve the most extensive collection of Victorian structures in the city and to provide nonprofits with rent-free office space in a collaborative community. It has served as a model for similar projects, including cost-effective historic adaptive reuse of buildings, landscaping, security, nonprofit management, development, and city systems.

You’re invited to learn more about the historic buildings and see before and after photos below. Preservation Dallas also offers a self-guided walking tour so you can see it in-person.
