Message From Our President

2019 was the end of an era at The Meadows Foundation.

After 26 years as president and CEO, my cousin Linda Perryman Evans retired on December 31. After I was elected by the Board of Directors to succeed Linda, I was able to spend six months with her to transition roles. I thoroughly enjoyed our time together. It helped me to understand the challenges I have in front of me and what a wonderful job Linda has done.

Linda is a thoughtful, mission-driven leader. She is a loyal guardian - of people, of animals, of Texas.

Our 2019 grantmaking is a great example of Linda’s deep and involved leadership. Her legacy will only grow with time, and I want to thank her for a job well done.

Looking Forward

We are well into 2020 and living in a world that is bringing us change on a daily basis. I can’t predict how the current pandemic ends or its long-term impacts. However, I do believe we will figure it out together and find ways to take care of each other.

Over the last year, I have had the opportunity to talk with many of the Foundation’s grantees, philanthropic partners, and employees as well as members of the Meadows family and board, and numerous policymakers.

These conversations have reminded me of the importance of the work that is done at The Meadows Foundation, work that was started with my great aunt and uncle, Virginia and Algur Meadows over 75 years ago. More than $1.26 billion has been granted to nonprofit organizations throughout the state to benefit the people of Texas.

I am proud of what my family and the staff at The Meadows Foundation has accomplished, and I look forward to the challenges ahead.

Sincerely,

Peter M. Miller
President and CEO
